New Oasis Song...sort of
Oasis has done a pretty good job of keeping their latest album, Dig Out Your Soul, out of the hands of internet pirates. All of my attempts to aquire the album before it's October 6th release have beem unsuccessful thus far. There is however, one new song that has made it to the internet. The Chemical Brothers remix of a track from Dig Out Your Soul, Falling Down, made it's internet debut about a month ago. Check it out here.
Falling Down (Chemical Brothers Remix)
The band has also put out a "Dig Out Your Soul Trailer" which features about 2:30 minutes of clips from their greatest hits, concluded with a twenty second preview of the first single of the album, "The Shock of the Lightning".

Tapes 'N Tapes at Radio Radio

Last night Radio Radio became my new favorite rock venue in Central Indiana when I got the chance to see Tapes ‘N Tapes there last night. Initially I though the show would be a for-sure sellout with everyone jammed in asshole to elbow, but to my surprise, my friends and I made our way to the front of the stage without incident. I have to give much respect to Dodge from MOKB for organizing a great show with great bands (The Broderick, Win With Willard) at a great venue.
Before this week, everything that I knew about Tapes ‘N Tapes came from the hilarious Human Giant “Clell Tickle- Indie Marketing Guru” short, so I checked out their MySpace earlier this week and decided that attending this show would probably be a good decision. I was right.

More Love for Canada
I couldn’t build the suspense anymore. I finally decided to write another blog entry…and for the record, Step Brothers was funny, but not “the funniest shit ever.”
For the last few weeks I’ve been listening to a lot of Tokyo Police Club. There is nothing special about them, really. They’re exactly the kind of band that Pitchfork Media would hate, which is always a good starting off point in my book. Elephant Shell is their debut full-length, on the heals of their A Lesson in Crime EP which was released in 2007. I hate trying to describe band’s sounds, so decide for yourself.

Step Brothers
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly's new movie, Step Brothers, looks like its going to be the funniest shit ever. It's the first Will Ferrell non-sports comedy since Old School that I can remember, which is currently and arguably the title holder of "funniest shit ever." It comes out on July 25th.

Eagles of Death Soccer
A few weeks ago, Nike released a new soccer commercial in Europe with the ad campaign “Take it to the Next Level.” As someone who casually follows the Barclays Premiership League and the UEFA Champions League, I found the commercial to be pretty bad-ass. The two minute commercial is a virtual who’s who in European soccer with cameos from Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and a bunch of other people that I, the casual fan, didn’t recognize. Even if you think soccer is “boring” or “gay” this commercial does a great job of making the game pretty exciting. It also features the song “Don’t Speak (I Came to Make a Bang) by The Eagles of Death Metal, which is probably my favorite band of the last week. And oh yeah, the whole thing was directed by Guy Ritchie. I think this commercial alone could do more for soccer in the States than Becks ever will.

Local Flavour
I really like this band from Bloomington, IN called The Delicious. Definitely in my top five local bands. I don’t really want to try and describe their sound to you because I think I would sound way too much like one of those elitist assholes over at Pitchfork Media. Such will be the case with future posts about bands/albums/songs that I like. I particularly like the songs “Hokusai” and “Corn Syrup.”
Check out their MySpace or their Musical Family Tree page where you can stream and/or download some of their stuff.

So Hot Right Now
Dirt Nasty
I discovered this guy about a year ago and thought he was brilliant. I told a few of my friends about it and nobody was that into it, so I decided not to waste my time telling anyone else about it. Then a couple of weeks ago I was talking with another friend about rap parodies and I told him to check this guy out. He told people who told people, who told people, and now Dirt Nasty is getting quoted in my social circle with the likes of Superbad.
